Chats with the people you know
Message one person or a whole group. Reply in a thread so a plan doesn't get lost, send a voice note of up to a set number of minutes, or share a file of any type within your plan's allowance.
A message can disappear after 1 minute, 1 hour or 1 day.
Deleted a chat by mistake? It waits in Trash for a set number of days, so you can bring it back.

Groups and communities
Groups are for people who already know each other. An admin approves anyone joining by link. Communities have channels and threads, and each one says whether you need an account or can join anonymously.
When the connection drops
Chats you've opened stay readable, and new messages wait with "Waiting to send" until you're back. A message says "Sent" only once it has arrived.
A chat with location history on needs a connection to open.

AChat is for messages. It doesn't make voice or video calls.
Can I chat without an account?
Yes. Anonymous rooms don't need an account: you pick a display name and share the room's link.

No account and no phone number. It doesn't mean invisible.
Anonymous mode doesn't promise that no one can identify you.
Rooms never show when you're online or last seen.
If you also have an account, AChat doesn't link your anonymous messages to it.
PrivacyWho can read a personal chat?
The people in it. Personal chats, private groups and their files are end-to-end encrypted, so each message can be read only on those people's devices.
AChat's moderators see a message only if someone in the chat reports it.
Paying for Team / Family doesn't let anyone read other members' chats.
What if I lose every device?
Your recovery key or another linked device brings your history back. Google sign-in alone can't, so keep the key somewhere you'll find it.
Who can see my status?
Your accepted contacts, by default. You can include or leave out particular people before you post, and each status disappears after 24 hours.
Chats that record location
A chat can turn on device and location history. Before you enter, it shows what it records and who can see it. Say no, and the chat stays closed.
In a public chat, anyone who can open it can see those records and copy them.
